Babar Azam, arguably, seems to be one of the best things ever happened to Pakistan Cricket. While there was never any doubt about his white-ball cricket, Babar’s Test numbers didn’t reflect his talent in the earlier period. Nevertheless, the proficient batsman went on to break the shackles and scored a plethora of runs in the last few months.
As a result, his Test average is inching towards that special ‘50’ mark. In fact, it is important to highlight that the right-hander was immensely backed by the former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur even when he was failing miserably in the purest format of the game.
Recently, the 51-year old discussed the growth of Babar Azam and shared jubilation with his rise in International cricket. He added that he always believed in Babar’s skills and stood against dropping him from the Test team. Moreover, Mickey has no doubt that the Lahore born would go on to score more than 10,000 Test runs for Pakistan – a feat only achieved by former skipper Younis Khan.
