Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has said his side were destined to defeat Pakistan in the high-voltage semi-final clash in the 2011 World Cup. The two archrivals fought a closely contested match in Mohali as India prevailed by 29 runs.
Yuvraj, who played a crucial role in India’s victorious 2011 World Cup campaign, believes that luck was with the hosts when they clashed with Pakistan. Batting great Sachin Tendulkar was dropped a total of four times as he led India’s charge and helped them set a competitive target that proved too much for the opposition.
"I think we were destined to win that game. I think Sachin scored 87 in that game and got dropped twice. Hence, it was just meant to happen," Yuvraj stated. The flamboyant cricketer himself also bowled tremendously as he scalped two wickets.
