Former Bangladesh opener Javed Omar has been reported to be banned from taking any part in future events organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The 43-year-old Omar was earlier given the role of being the manager of the women’s team for the last couple of series.
He was also with the team during the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia held earlier this year. It has now been alleged that he illegally passed on team information. The ICC hence asked the BCB to comply with the request of banning Omar’s participation in competitions under its ambit.
“Yes, we’ve been informed by the ICC to not include him in any future event. To be honest, it is quite disappointing,” a board official told an Indian publication. It remains to be seen what the next course of action will be in this developing matter.
