England leg-spinner Adil Rashid has reportedly been slapped with a heavy penalty for evading tax for a prolonged period. According to the list of defaulters revealed by the UK’s tax collection authority, Adil failed to file his tax returns between 2013-2017.
The expert spinner has been England’s leading slow bowler in the white-ball formats and was part of the side’s World Cup-winning squad last year. He made his international debut in 2009 and has established his white-ball credentials over the years with his crafty googlies and ripping leg-breaks.
The 32-year-old from Bradford has been ordered to pay in excess of £100,000 in taxes while he has to endure a fine of £36,608 for tax evasion. The news story disclosing Adil’s tax miseries was first published in The Telegraph and Argus.
