Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir had an impactful career for India stretched across 13 years of International cricket. During this time, he had the pleasure of playing under the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Anil Kumble. Recently, he was asked to pick the best captain of the lot, which was a difficult task.
Responding to the question, the veteran of 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is said that it was Anil Kumble who, in his opinion, was the best skipper. Moreover, the southpaw said that the legendary spinner would have shattered many records if he had captained the blue team for a long time.
“Dhoni, in records, point of view is right up there. Sourav Ganguly also did really well. However, one captain that I would have wanted to captain India for a long time was Anil Kumble. Had he captained India for enough time, he would have ended up breaking a lot of records,” said the cricketer turned politician.
