A few days ago, former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar reflected on the career of Asad Shafiq believing that the right-hander could have done better if he had opted to dominate the opposition using courage and determination.
The comments didn’t go down well with the Test specialist of Pakistan who responded to the criticism of Shoaib. Asad is of the opinion that he would not have scored centuries in countries like Australia, South Africa and England if he failed to muster the courage. Not only that, but the dexterous batsman also added that he doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone.
Moreover, Asad advised Shoaib to check records before forming an opinion. It is important to note that the 34-year old batsman has scored 4593 runs in 74 Tests, scoring a shade under 40. As far as the ODI cricket is concerned, the middle-order batter failed to come to the grips as he featured in 60 ODIs while mustering only 1336 runs to average 24.74.
