Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has expressed his wish to have played Test cricket against the legendary Wasim Akram during the latter’s heydays. Akram figures among the greatest ever pacers to play the game and his astonishing control over extravagant swing made him a lethal customer with the ball.
Delving into his cricketing desires that were never fulfilled, Watson remarked it would have been a special battle to witness a dangerous Akram bustling in from the other end of the pitch. The 38-year-old also revealed that Akram bowled to him in the nets during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) while he was involved with Islamabad United.
“I would have loved to have faced Wasim Akram in a Test match. I would have loved that. Opening the batting with the ball swinging at pace around 150 kph each way. That would have been incredible no doubt. He bowled to me in the nets when he was my mentor for the Islamabad United franchise in the PSL,” Watson said in a recent podcast.
