The current director of cricket of CSA Graeme Smith has disclosed his willingness to bring back Kolpak players to the national side once the Kolpak deals expire with the UK leaving the European Union. "With Kolpak coming to an end, I guess the willingness is always to have our best players in the system,” Smith told reporters via a video conference.
"It is up to the players to come back into the system and to make decisions on their careers.", Smith disclosed in a video conference. Remember, that many South African cricketers left the National side to play county cricket in England on Kolpak signings. Once the Brexit deals complete Kolpak deals will be no more applicable.
In the last five years, the Proteas bid adieu to the quality of off-spinner Simon Harmer, seamers Duane Olivier and Kyle Abbott, and batsman Rilee Rossouw to Kolpak deals in county cricket.
