Pakistan’s Test team’s opening batsman Shan Masood talked about the importance of consistency in a recent PCB video conference. Pointing towards the successful teams like England, India, and Australia- Shan feels that consistency and sticking to a bunch of players helped these teams.
Unfortunately, this has not been the case with Pakistan. The team has been changed a lot in the past 5 years or so. This inconsistent selection has backfired for Pakistan off late.
“There is a fear of failure which is human nature. They got security over a long time. The England team started with a plan in 2015 and got the result in 2019 (by winning the World Cup). They stuck to a core of players. Consistency is very important”, he said.
Moreover, Shan feels that Pakistan’s lack of home advantage in recent times has also affected the team’s performance. The opening batsman also applauded Misbah-ul-Haq, who is giving prime importance to fitness and training during the lockdown period.
