Few days ago, Nadeem Omar, owner of Quetta Gladiators, revealed that English opening batsman Jason Roy broke as many as five bats during the currently halted edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Moreover, he added that extra bats were to be arranged for their platinum pick.
While Roy managed to score 233 runs at 33.28, his strike-rate of 120.1 was far from his usual business. It was one of the major reasons to see the defending champions crashing out of the tournament before the play-offs of the T20 event.
However, Roy refuted the claim by sharing his version of the story. The 29-year old cricketer cleared that the dry weather played a major part in breaking his bats. Not only that, the bats were used in net sessions for a prolonged period. In fact, 3 of his bats were broken because of these reasons. Roy also stated that he carried only 3 or 4 bats to him on his trip to feature in Pakistan’s glamorous T20 competition.
