Pakistan Women’s cricket team captain Bismah Maroof is not impressed with the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision to split points equally between Pakistan and India following the cancellation of their ODI series.
The ongoing political tensions amongst the two nations led to India refusing to host Pakistan for a series that was set to be a part of the Women’s ODI Championship. As a result of ICC’s verdict, India have automatically qualified for the Women’s World Cup in 2021.
Talking about this disappointing scenario, Bismah cited Pakistan’s willingness to play with India and commitment to keep politics away from sports as the main factors that should have been taken into consideration by the ICC.
"The decision really was disappointing. Because we'd been waiting for a long time to play India and I'm sure our board was working on it. But I remember we weren't able to get a response. It was quite disappointing," Bismah said.
