Maverick pacer Shoaib Akhtar remains one of the fastest bowlers ever to play the game but his legacy is often interrupted with incidents of disciplinary violations and tussles with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). One infamous scuffle that took place during the career was his ugly spat with fellow teammate Mohammad Asif back in 2007, that led to Akhtar hitting the bowler with his bat.
As a result of that altercation, Akhtar was ejected from Pakistan’s World T20 squad, though he apologized for his actions soon after. The ‘Rawalpindi Express’ recently revisited the occurrence in a rather interesting manner on Twitter.
After a fan had picked Akhtar and Asif as part of his dream bowling pair in Pakistan cricket, he jokingly requested him not to assault Asif. In response, Akhtar remarked that he promised not to hit Asif as long as he doesn't ‘sell’ his beloved country again, referring to the disgraced cricketer’s involvement in the spot-fixing scandal in 2010.
