Once a mediocre performer, Rohit Sharma currently serves as an epitome of consistency in the cricketing world. However, the journey wasn’t smooth for him when he used to bat in the middle-order for India. Nevertheless, he was promoted to open the batting and now Rohit has over 14000 International runs.
Recently, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir reflected on the career of Rohit Sharma. The cricketer-turned-politician didn’t shy away from crediting ex-skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for making Rohit an asset for India by backing him when he was misfiring.
Speaking on the matter, Gambhir, who represented India in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is said that one can talk about the selection committee and management, but a captain’s backing remains the most important thing. He believes that no player got the kind of support Dhoni gave to Rohit and then it all translated into immense success for Rohit and the Indian team.
