It would not be wrong to say that opening batsman Jason Roy is one of the most important batters of the white-ball teams of England. In both these formats, the opener has proved his worth by scoring 3434 ODI runs and 860 T20I runs. However, the same cannot be said about his Test cricket as Roy averages a shade under 19 after representing the national team in 5 Tests.
Nevertheless, the 29-year old cricketer has no plans to give up and wants to get back to the Test team. Speaking on his exclusion from the red-ball team, Roy said that he worked really hard to earn a spot in the red-ball team and not being able to do well in the purest format of the game was extremely heartbreaking for him.
However, the skillful batter realizes that he will have to pile heaps of runs in the domestic cricket to make a case for his return. It would be interesting to see how Roy goes about business when things return to normalcy.
