Former West Indian player Michael Holding finds the method of giving points in the ICC Test Championship as ridiculous. Holding feels that giving equal points for the series and different scenarios does not work. He criticized the points method established to bring out two best teams in the longest format of the game and contest them in the final.
"It doesn't work," Holding said. "First of all the points system is ridiculous. You can't play five Test matches and get the same amount of points if you play two Test matches."
"And secondly, at some point, you're going to have teams who know they cannot get to the final and so those Test matches aren't going to be all that entertaining. People know it's just another game."
Remember, each Test series is allocated 120 points, however, each team has not been allocated equal number of games. The 5-match Test series have equal points as compared to the 2-match Test series. The final of the Test Championship is expected to take place in June next year.
