England Cricket Board (ECB) inaugural tournament The Hundred has come under the dark clouds of the COVID-19 pandemic and the board is forced to shift the tournament to the next year. Due to the postponement of the tournament, ECB has terminated the contracts of all the players picked during the auction in October.
"We can confirm that a letter terminating current player contracts has been issued today to all involved,", ECB quoted. However, the process of cancellation will go through a legal paper-working scenario and then will be conveyed to the players.
The postponement of the format can be a huge financial set-back for the England Cricket Board amidst the pandemic. Remember, the Hundred- first of its kind tournament- was set to be staged in July and August this year. With the worsening scenario of the pandemic, ECB has decided to postpone the tournament for now.
