Legendary Pakistan batsman Younis Khan recently conducted an online session with the national team and the country’s emerging crop of cricketers. Relaying his insight with the youngsters, Younis maintained that consistency was the key to success.
He also stressed the importance of fielding and asked players to work hard on that aspect of the game which can be improved by putting in the hard yards and perseverance. Younis himself was an exceptional fielder, who was a solid player usually stationed at first or second slip.
His athleticism in the field subsequently fell in line with the culture of high levels of fitness and discipline introduced under the coaching of Mickey Arthur. Pakistan then experienced a sharp improvement in fielding, though there has been criticism over the lack of consistency in this aspect of the game.
