Gone are those days when India and Pakistan used to play regular cricket to produce a plethora of magical moments on the field. These days, the two Asian giants face each other only in Asia Cup or the ICC tournaments.
A few weeks ago, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar called for an Indo-Pak cricket series to generate funds for the victims of the ongoing pandemic. Unfortunately, this idea was shot down by the Kapil Dev, the World Cup-winning captain of India.
Recently, the inventor of ‘Doosra’ and a spin wizard, Saqlain Mushtaq became a part of this debate. In his viewpoint, the International Cricket Council (ICC) should look into the matter as a series between two board would be extremely beneficial as the cricket boards are currently suffering a loss of millions because of cricket being halted.
Not only that, but he also lashed out at Kapil Dev for his irresponsible remarks. Sharing his thoughts on a private channel, the 43-year old cricketer said that sportspersons should not confuse cricket with war and look to create a friendly atmosphere.
