Former England’s Test captain Alastair Cook recently revealed the top five best batsmen ever to play the game. Surprisingly, Alastair Cook picked the current Indian team captain Virat Kohli over Sachin Tendulkar in his list of five best players.
The reason he quoted was Kohli’s ability to score free runs across all the 3 formats. According to the former left-handed England opener, Kohli finds a spot in the list because of his sheer ability to score runs freely across formats. “Now you would have to put Virat Kohli in that group, especially for his ability to score so freely in all three formats" - Cook said.
The rest four names are, West Indian left-handed great Brian Charles Lara, South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, and Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara.
