Indian Premier League based franchise Chennai Super Kings has rejected the idea of playing the IPL without their foreign players. A source of CSK said that the IPL will become more of a domestic tournament than an international level tournament if that happens.
Remember, BCCI will incur a huge loss in case of the lucrative tournament fails to take place amidst the pandemic. With the number of cases surging in India, BCCI finds itself in no position to discuss cricket with the franchises.
However, the only viable option for IPL to take place this year is the window of September-October. In case, the T20 World cup takes place on its schedule, then IPL chances of happening is almost negligible.
"CSK is not keen to do an IPL with only Indian players. That way it would be playing another Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (domestic T20 competition). The franchise has not been in touch with the BCCI of late as the situation is worsening. Let's hope we can have the IPL later this year” - a CSK source said.
