The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has created a new Emerging Players Category keeping in mind the long-term requirements of the team. As part of the central contract list released by the PCB, the Emerging Players Category features the top young performers in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The initial inductees in this new category include Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain and Haris Rauf. Haider was Pakistan’s standout batsman in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year and represented Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. Meanwhile, Hasnain has already been in the Pakistan national setup for over a year whereas Rauf shot to prominence for his Big Bash League (BBL) heroics.
“I am thankful to the PCB Chairman for supporting our recommendation to give emerging player contracts to Haider, Haris and Hasnain. This is part of our forward-looking strategy and investing in the future, while also encouraging potential future national team players”- said Pakistan’s chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq.
