Mohammad Ashraful, the discarded Bangladesh batsman, was one of the most promising talents of the country. However, he failed to make his mark in international cricket. Not only that, but his involvement in spot-fixing and match-fixing during the 2013 edition of the BPL also wasted 5 precious years of his life.
However, Ashraful has few sweet memories of playing for the national team and he recently recalled his best International innings. He highlighted the ODI match when Bangladesh defeated Australia for the first time and Ashraful starred with a stunning century to take the team home.
Bangladesh was in a stiff position when they were 3 down for 72 chasing 250 runs against an elite bowling attack. However, the youngster of that time fought hard to make his chance count as he formed a 130-run stand with skipper Habibul Bashar to help Bangladesh make history.
Revisiting the magical century at Cardiff, Ashraful said that he cannot forget the feeling of knocking down a spectacular Australian unit as Bangladesh was a new team in the cricketing world. Moreover, the 35-year old feels that the victory took Bangladesh Cricket to another level.
