Michael Hussey’s illustrious career is glittered by a plethora of match-winning knocks but perhaps his peak moment arrived in the dramatic World T20 semi-final clash against Pakistan. Facing a gargantuan task of 16 runs an over in the final three overs of the game, Hussey came out all guns blazing and stunned the Pakistan side.
He stood tall in the last over of the game against his nemesis Saeed Ajmal, smashing him for three sixes and a boundary to seal the deal for his team. Hussey recently sat down for an interview with Cricingif where he recalled the memories of his 24-ball 60.
“I still can’t believe it. I absolutely hated facing Ajmal as he got me out on so many occasions. When there were three overs remaining in the game, I had almost given up hope and it was just the case of seeing how close we can get. The only thing that was in our favor was that there was a short boundary on the left-hander’s leg-side and quite a strong wind blowing that way,” Hussey said.
“I thought if I just get a couple of balls in the wind, it may just carry over for a six. I still didn’t give us a lot of hope at the start of the last over but it was just meant to be my day, I guess,” he added.
