Mushtaq Ahmed is considered to be one of the finest leg-spinners of the game owing to his dexterous ability to bamboozle batsmen with his sharp googlies and variations. Having been a part of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup-winning squad, Mushtaq’s final international match came in 2003 against South Africa.
Although Mushtaq could not get any other chances in the national side following 2003, he reestablished his spin credentials with some memorable performances in England’s County circuit. The canny spinner was one of the key members of Sussex’s County Championship win in 2006.
Reliving the cherished memories in a recent tweet, Mushtaq talked highly of his journey with Sussex in 2006. He was the leading wicket-taker that season with an astonishing tally of 102 wickets across 15 games at a highly impressive average of 19.91.
