Sri Lanka to take on India without their key player

Cricket authorities of Sri Lanka has announced their squad to take on India for a three match T20I series. The 15-members squad had no place for the veteran cricketer and former skipper Lasith Malinga.



It is now a second such successive instance where Malinga has failed to register his name into the squad. He was also left out of the T20I series against Pakistan where Sri Lankan team was whitewashed.


Sri Lanka’s first game of the T20I series against India in Cuttack will be their first international appearance under new head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, who will be taking over from their interim coach Nic Pothas.


T20 squad of Sri Lanka contains following players:


Thisara Perera (captain), Angelo Mathews, Kusal Perera, Upul Tharanga, Akila Dananjaya, Vishwa Fernando, Niroshan Dickwella, Danushka Gunathilaka, Nuwan Pradeep, Dasun Shanaka, Sachith Pathirana, Asela Gunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera, Chaturanga de Silva and Sadeera Samarawickrama.
